About the Summit

Continuing a record of success, the University of California Santa Barbara’s Technology Management Program is hosting the two-day Concept to Commerce: Emerging Energy Technologies Summit. This year’s Summit will examine how our nation makes the transition from dependency on carbon-based fuels to a sustainable, alternative fuels-based future.

Experts from around the globe will come together over a two-day period to present possible alternative energy solutions, examine the trade-offs and barriers associated with bringing these solutions to market, and work to develop ways of overcoming these barriers.

Goal

The primary goal of this year’s Summit is to analyze the barriers and incentives to the adoption of emerging technologies, focusing specifically on technical, environmental, socio-economic, and political issues and their resolution.

Key Speakers and Panelists

The Summit, a sold-out event in its 2006 inaugural year, allows participants to join with financiers, business leaders, policy makers, scholars, and engineers to discuss the development and creation of profitable and practical alternative energy technology solutions that meet the nation’s increasing energy demands. About the Summit Series

The Summit focus on emerging energy technologies was designed as a three-year series. The 2006 Summit was to introduce the range of emerging energy technologies and the people behind them. The 2007 Summit takes a closer look at these technologies to determine which will succeed, examine the barriers to their success, and develop solutions for overcoming barriers. The series will culminate with the 2008 Summit where an action plan for transitioning to an alternatives-based future will be developed.
